Natural immunity

-

Re: “China races to bolster health system”, (BP, Dec 21).

While I certainly wish the Chinese people all the best as their country soon may face a loss of life on par with my home nation, the USA, I could not help but feel that this article at least anecdotally supports the personal suspicions I have regarding the possible benefits of constant exposure to Covid-19, as well as the ineffectiveness of face masks, which the BP published in the last week or two.

For instance, “Now, as the virus sweeps through a country of 1.4 billion people who lack natural immunity having been shielded for so long...” and “commuters, many coughing into their masks...”

Well, to me, those statements simply back up what I (and one of my doctors) have been suspecting about my seemingly functional immunity to Covid-19: I probably will never have any serious problems with Covid-19 because I already had it and am exposed to it (often) several times a week, so I have excellent natural immunity; something like herd immunity.

Again, I will point out that is a personal suspicion between but one man and one of his doctors. I don’t claim it to be a verified medical fact.

Yet, this article does remind me that there is such a thing as natural immunity. And, my personal suspicion is that despite what the noted Thai virologist Dr Yong Poovorawan recently said about herd immunity which drew my initial public questions, I personally suspect that the very best method for stopping Covid-19 is neither masks nor vaccines, but rather constant exposure...

...and I believe what China is about to go through might prove it.
