Aloft Bangkok (02-207-7080) January: The hotel features an evening food truck offering the popular German street food currywurst, in the Sukhumvit 11 neighbourh­ood. Options include pork and veal sausages with a variety of sauces and side orders such as classic French fries, cheese fries, Bavarian potato salad and cheesy bacon fries. Prices start from 170 baht net per set.

Avani Sukhumvit (02-079-7555) Jan 22: A Chinese New Year lunch buffet is featured at Greenhouse restaurant. Highlighte­d dishes include BBQ duck rolls, steamed black crab, drunken chicken, crispy golden crab rolls, jellyfish sesame salad, seafood on ice and fish maw soup as well as desserts such as sesame dumplings in ginger broth, sago cantaloupe and mango pudding. Price is 999 baht per person.

Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park (02-059-5999) Jan 21 and 22: A special selection of Spring Festival à la carte dishes as well as auspicious set menus are offered at Pagoda Chinese restaurant. Highlighte­d items include yu sheng tossed salad, which can be prepared with salmon, abalone or Phuket lobster, priced 1,288-6,888 baht per order; yuan bao, a golden Chinese pastry with black sesame and red bean filling, priced at 588 baht net; and nian gao, or fish-shaped sweet rice cakes, at 888 baht net. Set menus meanwhile showcase dishes such as double-boiled fish maw soup with abalone and conpoy, wok-fried baby cabbage with Australian abalone, mushroom, conpoy and seaweed in oyster sauce, steamed Phuket lobster with egg white in Chinese wine, and deep-fried red grouper in XO sauce. Price is 43,888 baht per set for eight persons. There will be a lion and dragon dance performanc­e on Sunday at 9am at the hotel entrance followed by guzheng music at Pagoda restaurant.

Bangkok Marriott Sukhumvit (02-797-0000) January: Octave Rooftop restaurant presents a new dining concept, Electronic Brunch, every other Saturday from 1 to 7pm. The six-hour experience features a wide range of à la carte options with highlights such as watermelon gazpacho, oysters and burrata, Hangover Burrito, The Massive Burger, Australian tomahawk steak, pan-seared snow fish, and cinnamon-oatmeal pancakes. Vegan options also available. Free-flow beverage packages are available from 900 baht per person for two hours.

Carlton (02-090-7888) Jan 21-24: A Chinese New Year selection of à la carte dishes as well as two set menus for a table of 10 persons are on offer at Wah Lok restaurant. Options include steamed live Phuket lobster with minced garlic and egg white; abalone and fresh salmon with crispy fish skin yu sheng salad; and braised Japanese rice topped with Australian abalone. Set menu prices are 23,888 baht and 38,888 baht.

Sheraton Grand Sukhumvit (02-649-8888) January: Dine in the Dark (DID), the unique fine-dining experience in a pitch-black, visionless setting, is featured at Barsu. The four-course surprise dinner (with choice of four cuisine options) including beverages costs 1,943 baht net per person. A special discount price is also available.

Athenee (02-650-8800)

Jan 21-29: A series of Chinese New Year menus including à la carte and dim sum options as well as multi-course sets, is offered for lunch and dinner at The Silk Road restaurant. Featured auspicious dishes include yu sheng, or Cantonese-style “prosperity toss” raw fish salad; poon choi, a traditiona­l Cantonese hot pot showcasing superior ingredient­s including abalone, sea cucumber, dried scallops, fish maw, braised mixed meats and black mushrooms; and nian gao, a traditiona­l Chinese New Year cake. Prices for à la carte items start from 420 baht per dish. A six-course Blessing Menu is priced at 2,888 baht per person while an eight-course Longevity Menu costs 24,888 baht for a group of 10 persons.

Cape House (02-658-7444) January and February: No.43 Italian Bistro’s Italian-Thai buffet lunch is offered every Wednesday and Sunday. Prices are 540 baht net per person on Wednesday and 620 baht net per person on Sunday. Children receive a 50% discount.

Conrad (02-690-9999) January: Liu Cantonese restaurant features all-you-can-eat dim sum lunch at 1,180 baht per person on weekdays and 1,580 baht per person on weekends. Signature items include chilled tiger prawn with fresh fruit salad; braised fish maw soup with black mushrooms and shredded chicken; crispy stuffed crab claw with shrimp paste; double-boiled chicken soup with black garlic and wild mushroom; and Peking duck roll. Meanwhile, Japanese restaurant KiSara offers a winter lunch set menu with prices ranging from 1,580 baht to 3,800 baht per person. Dishes include grilled lobster with onion, corn and fried burdock; Australian beef sirloin tataki with ponzu sauce; and omelette mushroom rolled beef.

Eastin Grand Sathorn (02-210-8100) January: A newly updated Italian menu is featured at Antito resto-bar. Options include organic tuna tartare on spicy flatbread; marinated

Southern squid with fennel and cucumber salad and spicy vinaigrett­e; pizza fritta with caramelise­d onion, pancetta, Parmesan cheese and balsamic; Italian sausage and truffle on grilled ciabatta bread with mushroom ketchup; spaghetton­i with Hokkaido scallops and black truffle butter sauce; Phuket lobster ravioli with leek and truffled lobster cream; and caramelise­d hazelnut praline panna cotta with dark chocolate. On Jan 22, The Glass House restaurant offers a special Chinese New Year lunch buffet. Highlights include prime seafood including fresh king crab, sea crab, oysters, river prawns, New Zealand mussels, snow fish and cheese-baked lobster as well as roasted duck, drunken chicken, Szechuan prawns, wok-fried egg noodles with crab meat and mushroom, and a selection of freshly made dim sum. The price is 1,950 baht net per person. Children under 12 receive a 50% discount.

Hotel Indigo (02-207-4999) January: Char restaurant highlights a new menu celebratin­g its Mexican-born chef de cuisine, Jaime Rojas. His signature dishes include roasted pork belly with creamy polenta, coriander chimichurr­i and sautéed bok choy; lobster rice with carnaroli rice, gochujang sofrito, mussels and the meat of a whole Boston lobster; grilled Wagyu beef tenderloin and woodfired steak tomahawk.

The Standard Mahanakhon (02-085-8888) Jan 22-29: Mott 32 Bangkok features a special Chinese New Year à la carte menu for both lunch and dinner. Among the selection of auspicious dishes are e-fu “longevity noodles” with hairy crab roe; bird’s nest with bamboo pith; steamed cod fillet with Chinese wine; and fish curd in rice soup.

SURAWONG — CHAROEN KRUNG

Capella (02-098-3888) Jan 22: Phra Nakhon Thai restaurant features Chinese New Year Sunday lunch buffet at 4,500 baht net per adult and 2,250 baht net per child. Menu highlights include Peking roasted duck, Trang-style suckling pig, grilled marinated white snapper, Maine lobster and king crab, pan-fried prawn dumplings, pork belly bao buns, and fresh spring rolls with crab meat and Chinese sausage.

Mandarin Oriental (02-659-9000) January and February: Kinu by Takagi Japanese restaurant presents a new seasonal menu showcasing the finest ingredient­s from Fukuoka. The refined kaiseki menu encompasse­s dishes prepared with highly sought-after Hakata Wagyu beef, Buzen Hitotsubu oysters, Ariake seaweed and Amaou strawberri­es. Prices are 4,000 baht per person for a five-course lunch and 8,000 baht per person for a 10-course dinner.

Peninsula (02-020-2888) Jan 20-24: River Café & Terrace offers a special internatio­nal dinner buffets to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Guests can expect a wide-ranging Chinese menu with selections including suckling pig, roasted duck, lo hei toss salad, jelly fish salad, steamed garoupa and wok-fried tiger prawns in XO sauce. Price is 2,590 baht per person. An afternoon tea inspired by traditiona­l yum cha (Cantonese tea time) is featured at The Lobby and priced at 1,288 baht per person or 2,188 baht for two persons. Meanwhile, Mei Jiang Chinese restaurant welcomes back dining guests with an all-new à la carte menu as well as a selection of the restaurant’s long-treasured handcrafte­d dim sum.

Royal Orchid Sheraton (02-266-0123) Jan 22: Lunar New Year celebratio­ns are enhanced by diverse Chinese cuisine at Feast’s internatio­nal buffet dinner, which also features a lion dance show. Expect to find items such as roasted duck with Chinese pancake; roasted suckling pig; chow mien noodles; turnip cake; and assorted dim sum. Desserts include black sesame dumplings in hot ginger syrup, assorted beans in cold syrup and hot sticky rice with taro. Price is 1,888 baht per person. Children get a 50% discount.

PHLOENCHIT — RATCHADAMR­I — RATCHAPRAS­ONG — RAMA I

Anantara Siam (02-126-8866) January: To celebrate the Lunar New Year, Mocha & Muffins offers Cantonese-styled tarts with four traditiona­l fillings — black sesame, purple potato, green tea and sweetened egg custard — at 220 baht for a set of four tarts or 450 baht for nine. There are also auspicious Lunar muffins in flavours such as mandarin orange and sesame, at 85 baht per piece.

Centara Grand at CentralWor­ld (02-100-6255) January: Red Sky fine dining restaurant highlights cuisine prepared with seasonal Périgord black truffle. Recommende­d dishes include poached Maine lobster and Périgord truffle salad with cauliflowe­r semolina remoulade and garlic crisps; kohlrabi and Périgord truffle parmentier with bone marrow on toast; pan-seared Glacier 51 snow fish with champagne sauce and Périgord truffle; and 72-hour cooked Hitachiwag­yu beef with Périgord truffle shavings and confit onion tarte tatin. Dynasty Cantonese restaurant offers on Jan 20-22 a festive set menu for groups of 10 dining guests to celebrate the Chinese New Year. The menu, priced at 14,900 baht per set, features nine auspicious dishes including braised fish maw and black mushrooms in brown soup; roasted duck flavoured with green tea; sautéed scallops with broccoli; mixed vegetables with crab meat sauce; baked tiger prawn with salt; deep-fried sea bass with condiments; braised e-fu noodles with shredded roasted duck and crab meat; and Chinese pancakes with banana. Special à la carte dishes include yi sang salmon salad; pan-fried sliced abalone with black mushroom in oyster sauce; and baked snow fish with XO sauce.

Siam Kempinski (02-162-9000) January: A new Lady in Red limited edition afternoon tea is featured at 1897 Lounge. The set showcases 14 delicacies in beautiful shades of red with cherry and vanilla shortbread; raspberry madeleine slice; strawberry rice crispy and mango delight; red velvet little choux; yuzu berry tartlet; avruga caviar and chive finger sandwich; salmon gravlax with radish and lemon yogurt; prawn salad canapé on a waffle basket; caprese savarin; boudin noir and raspberry tartlet; and frozen mixed berry parfait Gugelhupf. Price is 1,290 baht per set. Meanwhile, a new seasonal menu, dubbed Winter Journey, is featured at Michelin-starred restaurant Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin. The multicours­e menu includes all-time favourite soy sauce salty meringue; tom kha truffle ice-cream cornetto; five-spice pork croquette; kingfish flan in miso; green curry snow fish lava cake; duck confit pad kaprao with peas and quail egg; and pistachio soufflé with pistachio tuile and pandan ice cream. Eightcours­e meal is priced at 2,150 baht per person; 10-course at 3,200 baht; and a 16-course dinner at 3,900 baht. Additional wine pairings are priced from 1,700 baht to 2,900 baht.

St. Regis (02-207-7777) January and February: A new winter menu is featured at Michelin-starred Igniv Bangkok. Expect to find dishes such as a raclette-style potato with gruyère, mustard and truffle; deer with smoked beetroot and yoghurt; goat cheese with pumpernick­el gingerbrea­d; truffle and onion tartelette; foie gras and sea buckthorn; kohlrabi with crab; and broccoli with almond and chimichurr­i. Price is 4,500 baht per person.

RATCHADAPH­ISEK — VIBHAVADI — CHAENG WATTHANA

Asawin Grand (02-159-5888) January: Sarasawade­e restaurant offers internatio­nal buffet lunch at a special discount price of 650 baht net per person. Highlights include roasted duck, crispy pork, salmon and tuna sashimi, dim sum, mushroom cream soup, spinach lasagne, spaghetti carbonara, grilled seafood and salad bar. Seafood buffet dinner is priced at 999 baht net per person.

Emerald (02-276-4567) January: The Emerald Coffee Shop features a dinner buffet highlighti­ng Alaskan crab legs and foie gras, which is priced at 1,299 baht per person. Meanwhile, from Jan 20-22, Yok Chinese restaurant offers auspicious set menus with prices starting from 6,999 baht per set as well as a selection of festive dishes menu such as yu sheng fish salad and lobster noodles.

Miracle Grand (02-575-5599) January: Prempracha­korn restaurant presents an internatio­nal buffet priced at 550 baht net per person for lunch and 650 baht net per person for dinner, from Sunday to Wednesday. Highlighte­d items include smoked duck breast, roasted pork with plum sauce, Japanese sushi, Italian pasta, som tam and salad bar. Seafood on ice is added to the dinner buffet line from Thursday to Saturday, which is priced at 850 baht net per person. Dragon Luxury Chinese Cuisine meanwhile features a 25% discount on Peking duck, dim sum and à la carte items such as crispy prawn with mayonnaise fruit salad in taro nest, wok-tossed prawns with salt and chilli sauce, and black sesame dumplings served with ginger tea.

Anantara Riverside (02-476-0022) Jan 21-22: A grand Chinese New Year buffet dinner entertaine­d by a roaring lion dance is featured at Riverside Terrace. Highlights include roast duck, suckling pig, seafood on ice, crispy pork belly and other seasonal specialiti­es. The buffet is priced at 2,388 baht net per person including free-flow soft drinks. At Spice & Barley there will be a special edition of its all-you-can-eat dim sum experience which includes yee sang salmon salad, prosperity noodles, crispy Peking duck, abalone and foie gras dumplings, and har gao lobster dumplings; 1,488 net per person including free-flow soft drinks.

BEYOND BANGKOK

Classic Kameo, Ayutthaya (035-212-535) Jan 22: Tapestry restaurant offers a special Chinese buffet dinner with highlights such as shrimp shumai dumplings; pork dumplings; steamed seaweed stuffed with shrimp; steamed dumpling stuffed with shrimp; crispy deep-fried tofu skin with shrimp and pork filling; bamboo pith soup; fried noodles with fish in fermented black bean gravy; sautéed dried fish maw with egg; and braised fish maw in brown sauce soup. Price is 750 baht net per person. Children pay half price.

Meliá Chiang Mai (052-090-699) January and February: A new collection of doughnut combo sets, for dine-in or takeaway, is featured at Ruen Kaew Lounge and priced at 240 baht net per set for two glazed doughnuts with a cup of Spanish coffee. Plant-based drinks including smoothies, cocktails and mocktails made with fresh farm vegetables are also highlighte­d.

So Sofitel, Hua Hin (032-709-555) January: A selection of vegan dishes is offered at Beach Society and White Oven restaurant­s. Highlighte­d options include hummus and pita bread; grilled pineapple and mango salad; Beyond Meat burger; vegan meatball pasta; and vegan biryani. Prices start from 180 baht per dish.
