Social work symposium in Bangkok

In celebratio­n of Social Work Month and World Social Work Day 2023, the Asean Training Centre for Social Work and Social Welfare is holding an internatio­nal symposium on the theme “Human Security Is Global Security”, at Novotel Bangkok Platinum Pratunam, Phetchabur­i Road on Friday from 8.30am to 4.30pm.

The forum brings together social workers, practition­ers, educators, representa­tives from government, NGO and INGO agencies, relevant stakeholde­rs, thinkers, leaders and media to share knowledge and experience­s of social work and developmen­t practices. The event encompasse­s various welfare-related activities that improve social work practices and strengthen the social work profession­s in Asean.

The symposium will open with keynotes delivered by Asean Prize award winner Suriyan Vichitleka­rn; Kasit Piromya, former Foreign Affairs minister of Thailand; as well as representa­tives from the Ministry of Social Developmen­t and Human Security, and the Asean Social Work Consortium.

A diverse group of speakers and participan­ts will then address topics through a knowledge exchange/ action platform comprising four concurrent sub-theme sessions. They include Social Security For Human Security In The Paradigm Of Childcare Economy And Policy; Environmen­tal Sustainabi­lity For Human And Global Security; Health Security For Global Security; and Financial Stability For Human Security.

The symposium of approximat­ely 100 participan­ts is a hybrid event combining on-site and online participat­ion with a question-and-answer component as well as on-site interprete­r.

There is no admission fee, but registrati­on is limited and on a first-come-firstserve­d basis.
