Five films to celebrate love in all its forms

Everyone has until Sunday to watch five new films about LGBTI stories from “Five Films For Freedom”, the world’s widest-reaching LGBTI digital campaign.

Back to celebrate a decade of global LGBTI stories online, this 10th edition is another opportunit­y for audiences worldwide to dive into the world of LGBTI cinema from the comfort of their own homes and watch five short films from the Philippine­s, India, Spain, the UK and the US, free of charge.

The programme showcases stories that resonate with strength and spirit, from the historic defiance of Compton’s 22 directed by Drew de Pinto in San Francisco to the heartfelt journey of love and understand­ing in Halfway by Kumar Chheda in India.

This year’s selection, including Little One by Filipino director Clister Santos, Cursive by Isabel Steubel Johnson from the UK, and The First Kiss by Spanish director Miguel Lafuente, dives deep into themes of family, identity and the universal quest for acceptance.

Launched in 2014 by the British Council and the British Film Institute,

“Five Films For Freedom” is an annual online celebratio­n of global LGBTI stories that aims to amplify LGBTI voices and advocate for love as a human right. Throughout its 10-year journey, the initiative has reached over 23 million viewers globally with its remarkable films.
