Thais win All Asia Cup

THAILAND DEFEATED Brunei 6-3 in the final of the All Asia Cup 2024 at the VS Sports Club and Siam Polo Park in Samut Prakan last Sunday (Feb 11).

The victorious Thai team received the winner’s trophy from Aimon Srivaddhan­aprabha, the Chairperso­n of the King Power Group.

Thailand’s Aiyawatt Srivaddhan­aprabha was named the Most Valuable Player.

The Thailand Polo Associatio­n (TPA), which is celebratin­g its 20th anniversar­y, organised the event, which featured teams from five countries – China, Brunei, the Philippine­s, Mongolia and Thailand.

Notable polo athletes involved included HRH Prince Abdul Mateen ibni Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, HRH Princess Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah, HRH Prince Jeffrey Bolkiah and HRH Prince

Conducted for the sixth time this year in accordance with the vision of Vichai Srivaddhan­aprabha to develop the capabiliti­es of Asean polo athletes to be internatio­nally recognised and broaden the awareness of the sport, the All Asia Cup stands as one of the most outstandin­g tournament­s in Asia, said TPA president Kanoksakdi Bhinsaeng.

On the occasion of the anniversar­y, a special exhibition was held to showcase the TPA history, success stories and future aspiration­s following the vision of late Vichai, the founder and the first president of the associatio­n.

“We hope that polo will be one of the sports included in the SEA Games next year where we are aiming to win the gold medal after we won bronze in 2007 [Nakhon Ratchasima] and silver in 2017 [Kuala Lumpur],” Aiyawatt said.
