A Codeshare Agreement between Turkish Airlines and IndiGo
Turkish Airlines and IndiGo, the largest domestic carrier in India, signed a codeshare agreement to expand their flight networks and to maximize travel opportunities for their passengers.
Thanks to this collaboration between the two airlines, Turkish Airlines will be able to access IndiGo’s domestic flight destinations in India while IndiGo will be able to benefit from Turkish Airlines’ extensive flight network to European destinations, which are not part of IndiGo's flight network. This codeshare and mutual cooperation agreement will enable both carriers to provide more flexibility of choice to their customers who wish to fly between Turkey, India, and beyond. Moreover, passengers traveling with codeshare flights between Turkish Airlines and IndiGo will be able to check in for their outbound destination and enjoy more seamless connections.
Turkish Airlines Deputy Chairman and CEO Bilal Ekşi commented on the agreement as such, “We are very happy to welcome IndiGo, the first Indian carrier to operate flights to Turkey. We believe that this collaboration will provide great opportunity for our passengers traveling to/from India and that this has been an important step in terms of future collaborations, which we plan to expand.” IndiGo Director and Interim Chief Executive Officer Rahul Bhatia said, “We are very excited to launch our first codeshare agreement with Turkish Airlines. Apart from supporting our upcoming direct services to Istanbul, this strategic partnership will expand the choices available to our customers for journeys beyond Istanbul, using Turkish Airlines’ extensive network. In this regard, it will become possible for our customers to book itineraries to many cities in Europe via IndiGo, while flying Turkish Airlines and experiencing their renowned inflight service.”
