Turkey steps up aid efforts for Rohingya Muslims

-

TURKEY is continuing aid campaigns for Rohingya Muslims who have sought refuge in neighboring Bangladesh amid waves of violence in Myanmar.

After calls from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to help Rohingya Muslims, the ruling Justice and Development Party’s (AK Party) Kadıköy district acted to send aid to the region.

With the support of the members of the party and Kadıköy residents, aid will be delivered to hundreds of thousands of Rohingya Muslims. Turkish aid agencies launched a nationwide aid campaign on Monday for Rohingya Muslims fleeing violence in Myanmar’s western Rakhine state. The Turkish Red Crescent, the Presidency of Religious Affairs, and the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) are involved in the major humanitarian campaign.

People in Turkey who want to donate TL 10 (approx. $3) to the Rohingya refugees can do so by sending a text message with the text “ARAKAN” (meaning Rakhine) to 2868. They can also donate more with bank transfers.
