World of Harry Pot­ter at mag­i­cal events

“HARRY POT­TER and the Philoso­pher’s Stone,” the first film of the Harry Pot­ter se­ries, will be shown at the Main The­ater of Zorlu Per­form­ing Arts Cen­ter (PSM) with a live or­ches­tra as part of the se­ries Movies in Con­cert on Nov. 3-4. The pro­gram in­cludes “Be­ing Harry Pot­ter: Cre­ative Writ­ing and Book De­sign Work­shop,” “Harry Pot­ter and the Philoso­pher’s Stone Cre­ative Read­ing Work­shop” and an in­ter­est­ing con­ver­sa­tion “Rel­a­tives of Harry Pot­ter in Lit­er­a­ture and Mythol­ogy,” along with event in which the awarded sound­tracks of “Harry Pot­ter and the Philoso­pher’s Stone” by John Williams will be per­formed by the Or­ches­tra Is­tan­bul.

BE­ING HARRY POT­TER: CRE­ATIVE WRIT­ING AND BOOK DE­SIGN WORK­SHOP

Harry Pot­ter books, which con­tinue to break sales records in Tur­key and abroad, are beloved by chil­dren and adults for their se­crets and magic. In this work­shop, chil­dren between the ages of 8 and 13 will have the op­por­tu­nity to dis­cover their own Harry Pot­ter in their minds on pa­per in the com­pany of chil­dren’s book writ­ers Özlem Özyurt and Ner­min Fer­han Kara­muti. Or­ga­nized with the in­spi­ra­tion taken from “Harry Pot­ter and the Philoso­pher’s Stone,” this spe­cial work­shop will let chil­dren dis­cover their own in­ner Harry Pot­ter on Satur­day, Nov. 4.

The ticket price is TL 80 ($21) and it is half price for those watch­ing “Harry Pot­ter and Philoso­pher’s Stone” in con­cert.

‘HARRY POT­TER AND THE PHILOSO­PHER’S STONE’ CRE­ATIVE READ­ING WORK­SHOP

In the read­ing work­shop, which is based on “Harry Pot­ter and the Philoso­pher’s Stone,” the first book in the se­ries, chil­dren will be able to re­flect on Hog­warts in their minds, start­ing from the mean­ings that they have at­trib­uted to the philoso­pher’s stone with the tech­niques of play, cre­ative think­ing and an­i­ma­tion. The work­shop, which will be held for chil­dren between the ages of 10 and 13 un­der the guid­ance of trainer Çiğ­dem Od­abaşı on Nov. 4, will give chil­dren the op­por­tu­nity to ex­pe­ri­ence the Harry Pot­ter world from a dif­fer­ent per­spec­tive.

REL­A­TIVES OF HARRY POT­TER IN LIT­ER­A­TURE AND MYTHOL­OGY

Trans­la­tors of the Harry Pot­ter se­ries, Sevin Okyay and Kut­lukhan Kutlu, along with the se­ries’ pre­de­ce­sors and coun­ter­parts in lit­er­a­ture will hold a con­ver­sa­tion on Harry Pot­ter’s roots in mythol­ogy and the in­spi­ra­tional sources that have shaped the lan­guage of the books. This event is open to all Harry Pot­ter fans free of charge on Nov. 4.
