Cruises change course

Cruise-ship tourism was hardest hit by the shrinkage in Turkey’s tourism sector. In 2016, the number of cruise ships visiting Turkish ports dropped to 590 from 1,456 in 2015 and 1,612 in 2008. In 2016, the number of visitors from cruise lines was 30 percent of the previous year’s number of dropped to 628,000 people. According to industry officials, 800 cruise agencies dropped Turkish ports from their destinations.
