“We see that countries that adapt technology in their processes have gained a competitive advantage and have gone farther than their rivals. Competition in the steel industry is fierce; technology and innovation will play a vital role in the future. Another significant issue is sustainability. The pandemic has placed a spotlight on this topic. As Tosyali Holding, sustainability is at the center of our business. Companies will not make a difference with the quality of their products or with their competitive prices but with their contribution to the social good. Right now we are conducting our production with a minimal carbon footprint. We have focused on environmentally sensitive, green and sustainable production.

Energy is the second most important topic in manufacturing after raw materials. We have been working on using renewable energy and increasing it with advanced technology. One

concrete example is our Toscelik ERW Pipe Profile facility in the Osmaniye Organized Industrial Zone where we have installed 200,000 square meters of solar panels on the roof. It is the largest solar panel system on a roof in Europe and among the top five globally.

As part of our sustainability efforts, green steel and waste management are also important initiatives for our group. We have partners in these ares. Harsco, a NYSE listed company, is our business partner in the

“zero waste policy” effort. We are planning new investments with Tosyali Harsco in other parts of our country. The iron scrap disposal facility helps us save 1.2 million tonnes of scrap steel. It not only recovers metal but minimizes scrap warehousing with contributions to road construction, cement and fertilizer manufacturing.”
