EROGLU OFFERS GERMAN MODEL FOR ENERGY PRICES
The Renewable Energy Support Mechanism (YEKDEM) incentives will end on December 31. Yavuz Eroglu, President of
Turkey Plastic Industry Research, Development and Education Foundation (PAGEV ) criticized YEKDEM costs as it causes astronomic increases in electricity bills and suggested a transition to the German model where renewable energy is supported by tenders. The increasing and unforeseen YEKDEM costs drive the sector away from competitive production, Eroglu said. “Let’s implement the German system instead of incentives with fixed prices in YEKDEM and pave the way for competition for renewable energy investments.”
