A perfect partnership

Dimer, Diyar Mermer, Beden Mermer, and Medos Mermer, who were rival companies in Diyarbakır for many years, have come together, and Dmermer emerged.

They are, in fact, four rival companies. Dimer, Diyar Mermer, Beden Mermer, and Medos Mermer are four major companies from Diyarbakır. They all worked in the natural stone sector, produced similar products, and competed with each other. However, their rivalry transformed into a very different thing last year. They signed up for such a beautiful partnership that all Turkey should see it as an example. Let’s hear their story.

Twelve quarries and a factory

Five partners came together in 1998 in

Diyarbakır and founded Toprak Mermer. Halis Toprak was the founder and a partner of the company. After the economic crisis that Toprak went through, Toprak Mermer was taken over by TMSF. (Savings Deposit Insurance Fund of Turkey) After that, Demirören Group, one of the partners, took action and bought Toprak Mermer. Toprak Mermer was then called DMermer. However, the Toprak Mermer sign above the company’s gate wasn’t removed due to fidelity. DMermer today serves the natural stone industry with its twelve quarries

and one factory.4

It was idle for ten years

A critical decision was made in 2009. The factory was closed, and DMermer continued operating as a block marble producer. However, in 2015, Demirören Group decided to stop DMermer’s operations. The companies factory had been idle for ten years and the quarries for four. At this point, the roads of Dimer, Diyar Mermer, Beden Mermer, and Medos Mermer crossed. To contribute to the country’s economy by stirring up this idle value and come up with a social responsibility project to create new employment opportunities in the region, the four companies worked together and bought DMermer. Working individually, they also became owners of a shared company.4

Hard work at the factory

In other words, these firms are both rivals and partners. Bülent İpek from Medos Mermer is the board chairman of the company. Beşir Yılmaz from Beden Mermer, Latif Türk from Dimer and Hanifi Gürler from Diyar Mermer take part in the board of the company. The company’s factory in Lice works very hard. The building is renovated, and the Italian-tech machines are under maintenance. This active working routine at the factory will be carried to the quarries as well. Belle Beige, Bella Cream, Bella Flower, Bella Pink Antique, Sandy Antique, and Yaden are going to be presented to the visitor for the first time at Izmir Fair.
