Tourism expansion of marble firms
Pınar Marble’s project Hilton Double Tree Hotel opened in Afyon. And Sesemar Marble bought the Ramada Plaza By Wyndham Hotel in Izmir, restored it, and put it back into service.
Companies operating in the Turkish natural stone sector present the marble they produce to the world market and come to the forefront in the tourism sector with their hotel investments.
Last November and December, two natural stone companies presented two world-renowned hotels to the sector. In Afyon, Pınar Marble opened the DoubleTree By Hilton Hotel with an investment of 75 million TL, while the Afyon-based Sesemar Marble bought and restored the Ramada Plaza By Wyndham Hotel in
İzmir. İvme Marble, Eminoğlu Marble, Fimar Marble, Marmi Serpentine, Demircioğlu Marble, TMG Marble, CVK Marble, Çakmak Marble, Ece Marble, Taymandos Marble, Oruçoğlu Marble are among the natural stone companies that have invested in hotels in the past.
Hilton of Pınar Marble
Located near Akarçay, DoubleTree by Hilton Afyonkarahisar Hotel has 115 rooms, 250 beds, a ballroom on an area of 400 square meters, three meeting rooms, the main restaurant, and a roof bar. Speaking at the opening, Pınar Group Chairman İbrahim Altınpınar said, “Our hotel project, of which I have dreamed for many years, has finally opened its doors. We are excited and happy to bring the Hilton brand to our city.” The exterior of the DoubleTree By Hilton Afyonkarahisar Hotel is covered with Snow White marble produced by Pınar Marble in Bursa Kemalpaşa Quarry. Some well-known Turkish stones such as Almond Cream, Olive Maroon, Nimbus White, Taurus Black, Uşak Green, are also used in the project.4
Ramada of Sesemar
Located in the Basmane district, the four-star Ramada Plaza By Wyndham Izmir Hotel features 207 rooms with 450 beds, seven meeting rooms, the main restaurant, which can be arranged to accommodate 150 guests for conferences or dinner parties. The restored reception desk of the hotel and the illuminated onyx application behind the lobby prove that somebody from the marble sector is involved in the design. Engin Gökdemir, the owner of Sesemar Mermer, said, “We were aiming to get into the tourism sector two years ago. It could be possible today. We joined the beautiful and prestigious Wyndham family.”
