The goal of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan is to increase the trade volume to 10 billion dollars

The foreign ministers of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan agreed to increase the bilateral trade volume between the two countries to $10 billion.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyar Saidov met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtileu during his official visit to Kazakhstan. The two ministers held a joint press conference and stated that they signed agreements on raising relations to the level of allies and increasing trade. They also discussed issues such as water, energy and transport, as well as projects such as the constructi­on of new railways.

The foreign ministers of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan agreed to increase the bilateral trade volume between the two countries to $10 billion.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyar Saidov paid his first official visit to Kazakhstan.

Saidov met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtileu in the capital Astana. The two ministers, who held a têteà-tête and inter-delegation meeting, later held a joint press conference.

Kazakh Minister Nurtileu stated that they held a meeting with his Uzbek counterpar­t Saidov, who is on an official visit to Astana for the first time, in accordance with mutual support and trust.

Emphasizin­g that they have set new goals in bilateral cooperatio­n, Nurtileu said that the historical agreements signed in 2022 on raising the relations between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to the level of allies and determinin­g the borders opened a new page in the Kazakh-Uzbek interactio­n.

Pointing out that the agreements reached between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan also affect the stability and developmen­t in the Central Asian region, Nurtileu said, “There is not a single problem between the two countries that has not yet been resolved. I have full confidence that this will continue in the future.”

Pointing out that mutual trade has grown steadily in recent years, Nurtileu said that they agreed to increase the trade between the two countries to 10 billion dollars.

Nurtileu stated that they discussed water and energy issues that are important for the people of the region, as well as projects for the constructi­on of new railways that will increase the transporta­tion potential of the two countries, and said, “I assured that we will continue the basic work to facilitate the passage of Uzbek trucks through our borders.”

Uzbek Minister Saidov also stated that the talks were very productive and said, “It is not a secret that the relations between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are developing rapidly in all areas.”

Noting that the past year marked the high-level dialogues between the two countries, Saidov said, “We expect this year to be full of mutual contacts between our leaders.”

Noting that economic and commercial cooperatio­n is one of the important aspects of Uzbek-Kazakh relations, Saidov said, “Kazakhstan is our largest trade partner in Central Asia. In recent years, the volume of mutual trade has doubled. We discussed ways to increase this figure by 2-3 times.”

Pointing out the common roots of the two brotherly peoples, Saidov said, “The Uzbek and Kazakh peoples are peoples who drink water from the same well. When we look at the depths of our common history, we can find many examples of how our peoples have always been united as supportive and reliable comrades in all respects.”
