Marriott upgrades mobile app and expands keyless entry

MARRIOTT INTERNATIO­NAL’S UPGRADED mobile app allows Rewards members to request room upgrades and receive notificati­on pre-arrival as well as late checkout rather than visiting the front desk.

The new features are part of a ‘reimagined’ app which is now available in five languages on iOS (English, Chinese, Spanish, French and German) and Android is coming soon. A simple ‘thumb tap access’ to all services is designed to help travellers juggling phones and luggage.

Greater customisat­ion allows guests to chat directly with staff and choose from a dropdown menu of most frequently requested services or amenities.

Marriott is also expanding Mobile Key, rolling out to more than 500 hotels globally this year. Currently two properties offer it in the region but the operator is targeting 10 by the year end.

Members who check-in using the app can skip the front desk and go straight to their room.
