Mar­riott up­grades mo­bile app and ex­pands key­less en­try

MAR­RIOTT IN­TER­NA­TIONAL’S UP­GRADED mo­bile app al­lows Re­wards mem­bers to re­quest room up­grades and re­ceive no­ti­fi­ca­tion pre-ar­rival as well as late check­out rather than vis­it­ing the front desk.

The new fea­tures are part of a ‘reimag­ined’ app which is now avail­able in five lan­guages on iOS (English, Chi­nese, Span­ish, French and Ger­man) and An­droid is com­ing soon. A sim­ple ‘thumb tap ac­cess’ to all ser­vices is de­signed to help trav­ellers jug­gling phones and lug­gage.

Greater cus­tomi­sa­tion al­lows guests to chat di­rectly with staff and choose from a drop­down menu of most fre­quently re­quested ser­vices or ameni­ties.

Mar­riott is also ex­pand­ing Mo­bile Key, rolling out to more than 500 ho­tels glob­ally this year. Cur­rently two prop­er­ties of­fer it in the re­gion but the op­er­a­tor is tar­get­ing 10 by the year end.

Mem­bers who check-in us­ing the app can skip the front desk and go straight to their room.
