Raffles Singapore starts renovations

-

RAFFLES SINGAPORE HAS STARTED a three-phase renovation which will lead to the iconic hotel closing in December and reopening in June 2018.

Mindful of the need to retain the hotel’s heritage while catering to the needs of 21st century travellers, General Manager Simon Hirst said it will be a “careful and sensitive restoration” with few structural changes and “90 per cent will be interior design”. In August, around half of the 103 suites will close before the third phase begins late 2017.

Changes will see a new history gallery installed along with modern in-suite technology, better air conditioning and redesigned bathrooms, as well as a new lobby lounge and fresh dining concepts. The work will cover areas that underwent the previous renovation between 1989-1991.
