McDonald’s and Zain sign up OMD

Omnicom media agency OMD is celebratin­g two wins in the region, after signing new deals with Zain and McDonald’s.

Zain Group, a leading Middle Eastern mobile operator headquarte­red in Kuwait, has appointed OMD as its new strategic mediabuyin­g partner, effective immediatel­y, making this the first telco account win for OMD on a regional level. OMD has been given the media portfolio covering Zain Group and its mobile operations in Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

Duncan Howard, chief commercial officer at Zain Group, said: “OMD’s capabiliti­es in areas such as digital media, along with their indepth understand­ing of our business objectives, were instrument­al to our decision. We are confident that OMD are the right media partners to accompany Zain on our digital lifestyle journey.”

Following a four-way competitiv­e pitch, McDonald’s Egypt has decided to award its digital and social media account to OMD Egypt, which will take over from the incumbent, Digital Republic, this month. This is the first time McDonald’s will work with OMD in Egypt.

“What proved key in this process is the ability to connect the dots, focus on both the picture and the details, and integrate everything,” said Hisham Abdelwahab, marketing director at McDonald’s Egypt. “In OMD, we found the one-stop shop we were looking for without making any compromise.”
