Brunch, BeAch, Friends And peT
Born in India and brought up in Oman, the city of Dreams, Dubai, has been Andrea D’Souza’s home for the past 10 years. Music isn’t just music, it’s medicine for Andrea who has been singing professionally for a number of the bands in the UAE over the years. She says singing came naturally to her, but it was her mother who made her aware of her inherent talent and since then she’s been in tune with the music world. Despite ample stage experience, Andrea still feels the need to undergo professional voice training in a bid to become a better singer.
Late brunch
Fridays start with a late brunch, with my husband at home wherein we get to spend quality time with each other. After that, we either head out to the beach or catch up with friends. I also make it a point to visit the church in the evening.
Get into the kitchen
I love to don an apron on weekends. I attempt to experiment with different cuisines – Indian, Thai, Chinese, American and Italian. I try to eat healthy, but I do have cheat days (usually on weekends). I also have a major sweet tooth and making desserts is very high on my priority list.
Shopping Saturdays
Saturdays are more relaxed. I usually go to the salon and then meet the girls (friends) for lunch. Come evening and I usually head to the mall to stock up on the groceries for the week ahead.
Love for travel and food
I am a big time travel buff and whenever I get an extended weekends, I take off to a destination. I love visiting new places, exploring different cultures and trying out local cuisines. Till date I have travelled to more than 10 countries. I have an interesting list of new places that I intend to visit soon.
Pet zone
Though I had three dogs as pets when I was growing up, I have since switched my loyalty to cats, I find them cute. I make it a point to keep some time aside for my cat during weekends. Many of us don’t know that we can communicate to animals through their gestures, you can actually have conversations and spend a lot of time with them, it’s fun and therapeutic too. I hope to someday create a safe home for abandoned animals (it’s on my wish list). (As told to Michael Gomes)
