I believe that it’s never too early or too late for anyone to make a start on a healthier and happier lifestyle.” AbdulRahman

IF YOU ARE a Kite Beach regular then you must have heard AbdulRahman’s loud voice instructing his students during his boot camp sessions every Saturday evening at the Beach front. Those who attend these classes are used to being stared at and filmed by the people who are passing by, possibly wondering what is going on. In fact, 28-year-old AbdulRahman often asks runners at the beach to join his class impromptu and many end up becoming regulars.

His class boasts of staunch loyal followers who only miss this class when they are out of the country. For those fitness fanatics, Saturday nights are not about partying or going out, they are bout getting sweaty.

Abdul’s loud voice is one of the big motivating factors. We wonder if it comes from having a career in the police. “I have worked for the Dubai Police Force for 8 years, I am based in Dubai. Like most Emiratis I have a large family, being one of ten children. My family means the world to me, there is never a quiet moment at my family home. Aside from my family and work, I enjoy travelling, extreme sports, meeting new people and supporting the community,” said Abdul while talking to City Times.

He trains his students to do high-intensity interval training exercises like planks, burpees, sprinting, push-ups, squats, mountain climbing and much more. He famously calls his students ‘machines’ and terms all the exercises as a ‘piece of cake.’

So what inspired him to get into fitness? “My father was my inspiration, he used to train twice a day. As a child I just wanted to be like him, there is no real surprise that eventually I found myself in fitness. I find it captivating, challenging and enjoyable.”

After losing his father to cancer last year, Abdul started this free boot camp to help others become fit.

“In September last year, I sadly lost my inspiration when my father ended his battle with cancer. I spent time re-evaluating my life and decided that I wanted to do something to help others. I knew my passion was fitness and with my Personal Training qualification and experience I could share my knowledge and energy to motivate people into living a healthier lifestyle.”

They say that if you have talent and are hardworking then nothing can stop you from becoming successful. Credible people let their work speak rather than making too much of hoo-hah about it. In today’s day and age and the competitive world that we are living in, it is very important to market yourself and Instagram marketing has become an essential. But Abdul’s success proves that if you are genuinely talented then followers will chase you.

He told us the story of how his boot camp classes became popular so quickly. “I chose to host the boot camp at the beach because of the wide open space it offered, its accessibility for all and the cool vibe from the sun, sand and crashing waves. I thought that would be the best atmosphere to inspire people. It also means that passers-by who were using the running track could spot us or even people living in the area can join. Because there is no formal requirement to sign up and register, all you have to do is show up as and when you can,” said Abdul.

He also follows some of his students on Instagram and keeps a check on what they are eating. So, don’t be surprised if you see an angry emoji on your Instagram message folder when you post a picture of a cupcake or a chocolate. “My ultimate dream is to pass the same passion and dedication I have for health and exercise to everyone around me, I believe that it’s never too early or too late for anyone to make a start on a healthier and happier lifestyle. All it takes is to commit a few hours a week for a short period of time before it becomes a habit and an addiction to feeling and looking better and create events in future.”

If Abdul’s boot camp is too much for you to handle, you can always go for his colleague Miguel’s beginners’ class which takes place right next to Abdul’s classes.
