Rocktoberfest off to a rousing start

-

PINOY UNDERGROUND’S FINEST stars came down hard and heavy last weekend with iconic rock group Greyhoundz kickingoff the month-long Rocktoberfest music festival.

Fans flocked to Rocky’s Bar in Regent Café to watch local favourites like Up the Ante, Bulletcells, Tsinelas, Gatilyo, GDE.

The bands played loud and proud alongside their rock heroes from Manila in the first of a series of the concerts organised by Dubaibased Filipino production Pheonix LAS and Blacksheep DXB.

At the opener, Greyhoundz frontman Reg Rubio revealed he is inspired by the energy of the crowd. This is the band’s second concert in Dubai.

“We played in Dubai two years ago for Rocktoberfest. It was one of the best shows we’ve ever done as we shared the stage with legends like Queso and Slapshock. When you do arena gigs, you get massive energy from the crowd and that is what compels us. But we also like to do intimate gigs because of our close proximity to the audience. It’s always a treat for us to play for the Dubai audience,” Rubio said.

The month-long festival will unfold over three consecutive Fridays with headline acts

Wilabaliw on October 13, ChicoSci on October 20, and the legendary Slapshock on October 27.

Rocktoberfest tickets are available at Rocky’s Café or at

Wingstop outlets. All ticket holders will get a chance to win a world-class Les Paul guitar. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/RocktoberfestDubai
