Musicians who battled addiction
WHITNEY HOUSTON
Late pop icon Whitney Houston admitted to using narcotics although she previously denied the allegations in 2002. She said that she binged on drugs after she married her husband Bobby Brown. Her battle with drugs went on for years.
KURT COBAIN
Lead singer of the sensational American band Nirvana overdosed on drugs and alcohol, which was seen as his first suicide attempt. Cobain was admitted to a hospital where he was unconscious for five days and was soon after sent to rehab.
PRINCE
Legendary late musician Prince passed away tragically in 2016. It appeared that there were high levels of an opioid in his system, which was 50 times more toxic than a popular recreational drug.
OZZY OSBOURNE
The Black Sabbath singer disclosed that he used drugs. In an interview with The Guardian, he says that he doesn’t even remember doing it in the first place ‘since drugs alter your experiences.’
BRITNEY SPEARS
It’s not a shocker that pop princess Britney Spears had a tough time in the early 2000s. She experimented with drugs, which contributed to her famous 2007 outburst with the paparazzi. She was sent to a rehab centre, but checked out just 24 hours later.
