The year 2018 is meant to be the Year of Minimalism for me. With the aim of stepping into 2019 a lighter soul (both in body and spirit) so far I have given away countless pieces of clothing, crockery and a few books. But that’s just a drop in the ocean.
How to chip away at the growing pile, so I have a tidy cupboard I can finally shut completely, and a house where each room can boast a minimalistic appearance? News that Japanese tidying queen Marie Kondo has an upcoming Netflix show and trained consultants who can come in to your house (even in the Middle East) and help you tidy up, couldn’t have come at a better time. Read the story (Pages 10-11) for some inspiration if you have hit a block when it comes to decluttering.
And for all those who are asking WTF? as in ‘Why the Fastness’ when news emerged over the weekend of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jones getting engaged after two months of dating; hey, have you forgotten the ‘desi girl’ comes from a land where ‘arranged marriages’ are pretty much the norm; whereby a boy and girl get married after seeing each other once and corresponding for a while (if they are lucky), or sometimes even after not having met or spoken to each other. So why all this fuss over two young people who decide after a couple of dates to take their relationship to the next level? Better clear out your mess, before the PC-Nick Jonas wedding craze takes over our lives and we are glued to the press once again to read all the latest gossip. Have a great week!
