Don’t mess with Olivia!

COOL. FUNNY. INTELLIGEN­T. Talented. And turns out, lots more. Olivia Munn is one of our favourite actors in Hollywood setting the bar for the ultimate It Girl. Her latest film The Predator is delivering thrilling science fiction amazingnes­s. And Olivia’s performanc­e is stellar. It made us think about all her other amazing roles and the fact that Olivia likes to keep a low profile. So, what don’t we know about Olivia? Read on readers!

Olivia Munn

was born Lisa Olivia Munn on July 3, 1980 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Kim Schmid and Winston Munn. Although her mother is of Chinese descent, she was born and raised in Vietnam. Her mother fled to Oklahoma after the Vietnam War came to a close in 1975. Olivia Munn’s father Winston Munn, is American, of English, Irish, and German ancestry.

Olivia was

raised mostly in Tokyo, Japan, where her stepfather was stationed as a member of the United States Air Force. While in Japan, Olivia also modelled and appeared in local theater production­s. By the way she can speak fluent Japanese! After her mother divorced her stepfather, Munn moved back to America and attended the University of Oklahoma, where she majored in journalism and minored in Japanese and dramatic arts.

You don’t

want to mess with Olivia. In an interview for Good Housekeepi­ng in August 2015 cover, Olivia said: “I’m the fourth of five children. All of us started karate at around age five and studied it until we were about 16 — and we weren’t allowed to stop practicing until we had achieved black belts.” Another interestin­g fact is that Olivia’s sister’s birthday is July 1, two days before her July 3 birthday. And they sometimes celebrate both birthdays on July 1.

Olivia is

a major geek and she’s proud of it. In addition to loving comic books and video games, she also competed in the World Champion Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament in Toronto, Canada. Her family are huge fans of X-men and so it was a huge deal when Olivia played Psylocke in the movie X-men: Apocalypse. The role that really made us notice her acting chops was during her stint on TV as Sloan Sabbith on the series The Newsroom from 2012 to 2014.

When Olivia

moved out to Los Angeles to pursue acting she quickly landed a part in the Zebrahead music video Hello Tomorrow (2004) where she played the love interest of lead singer Justin Mauriello. Throughout her career, she’s modelled for Nike, Pepsi, and Neutrogena. And she’s also written a book! Entitled Suck It, Wonder Woman! The Misadventu­res of a Hollywood Geek, the book is a humorous look at geeks, gadgets and Hollywood!
