Jenny Slate is our Girl!

-

So, we are kind of in love with Jenny Slate. Many of you may not have heard of her (we have a feeling that she may be more famous in the US but is bound to become an international sensation any day now) but Jenny has been on the scene creating amazing work, hilarious characters and remaining pretty incognito from the press which is pretty impressive! Playing Dr. Dora Skirth in the massive box office hit Venom Jenny has proven her range as an actress and comedian we need to keep watching! Want to learn more about her? Read on!

Born on March 25, 1982 in Milton, Massachusetts to Ron Slate a businessman and poet who worked as vice president of global communications for the EMC Corporation and later as CEO of a biotech startup and Nancy Gilson, a ceramicist, Jenny has an older sister named Abigail and younger sister named Stacey. She was raised in a Jewish family but one of her grandmothers was born in Cuba, to a family from Russia and Turkey, and was raised in France.

Jenny is more than just a talented actress and comedian, she’s a bit of a brain box after graduating from Milton Academy as the valedictorian she attended Columbia University as a literature major but always knew that she wanted to be an actress. Not only was she part of an acapella group but she also helped form the improv group Fruit Paunch starred in the Varsity Show and met Gabe Liedman, who would become her comedy partner.

After graduating from Columbia in 2004 a psychic told her to do a one woman show on the stage which would gain her some important attention. During the show someone from Saturday Night Live was in the audience and was so impressed by Jenny that he convinced her to audition for the popular skit show and she got in. However, her gig at SNL didn’t last long – Jenny accidently dropped the F-bomb in her debut performance in 2009 and was fired at the end of the season.

Not to worry though, Jenny kept working and landed a role as Mona-lisa Saperstein on Parks and Recreation which got her a lot of attention. She’s also appeared on House of Lies, Married, Bob’s Burgers, Hello Ladies, Kroll Show, Bored to Death, and Girls, as well

as movies like Zootopia, The Secret Life of

Pets, and Despicable Me 3. She’s also played the lead role in the 2014 film Obvious Child, and in 2016 she was in Brain on Fire and most recently Venom with Tom Hardy and Riz Ahmed!

Jenny was married to film maker Dean Fleischer-camp – together they created the book and short film series Marcel the

Shell With Shoes On in 2010, which won Best Animated Short at AFI Fest 2010 and screened at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. Jenny voiced the animated anthropomorphic shell, Marcel. But the husband and wife team announced their separation in May 2016. Soon after though, Jenny started dating actor Chris Evans which put her firmly in the limelight despite the couple keeping their relationship private! Allegedly according to Evans they separated in March of this year.
