Deputy Editor’s note

-

As almost everyone on the planet knows by now, Bollywood sweethearts Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have tied the knot. And we’re not ashamed to admit that, like thousands of others, we’ve been hoping to have access to more pictures of their wedding held at the picturesque and upscale Lake Como in Italy. Why are we obsessed with celebrity photographs, more so in this decade than earlier ones? Social media (and our own lack of determination) is a contributing factor to this addiction. Back in the 80s, we’d see just one picture of a rumoured Bollywood couple or of newly-wed celebrities in a newspaper and be satisfied. Nowadays that just isn’t enough. We have to get on to Google, and Instagram and Twitter to dig deeper. It’s worthwhile analysing your feelings after you’ve done a good amount of ‘research’ (others may call it ‘lurking’). Are we happier now that we’ve seen two pics of Ranveer-deepika’s wedding instead of one? Does it make any big difference in our lives that both are of two separate ceremonies and feature the couple in different outfits? Will our world really be affected by the cost of Deepika’s huge engagement ring which, as per a Pinkvilla report, cost Ranveer something between Rs1.3 crore to 2.7 crore? Sadly, even though the answer to all these questions is ‘no’ – we are still waiting with baited breath to see more Deepveer wedding pictures. Old habits die hard! Have a great week.
