HERE COMES FELICITY JONES!

-

Have you seen the trailer of the new film On the Basis of Sex? It’s the story of respected US judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg and her struggles for equal rights and what she had to overcome in order to become a US Supreme Court Justice. The film stars one of our latest girl crushes, talented actress Felicity Jones. Over the last few years, the British beauty has proven herself on the screen with some stellar performances in films such as The Theory of Everything and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and in her early TV appearances like Northanger Abbey. But we don’t seem to know much about Felicity other than her being a talented actress. We needed to know more and we guess that you do too! Well, read on reader!

Felicity Rose Hadley Jones was born in Birmingham on October 17, 1983. She grew up in Bournville, West Midlands. Her mother worked in advertising while her father was a journalist. Her uncle is an actor, which is how Felicity got interested in acting. She showed talent for performing from an early age! One of her first roles was in the kids show The Worst Witch when she was 15. She then starred in the TV movie The Treasure Seekers.

Despite taking up acting professionally, Felicity decided to study English at Wadham College at the University of Oxford where she was able to study and act at the same time. While at Oxford, she appeared in the student play, Attis, and Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors for the Oxford University Dramatic Society. She graduated with top marks and went into acting. She told Stylist that she’s always wanted to go to Oxford: “Going somewhere like Oxford meant I could act and be part of the theatre there and study at the same time. I loved it. I met my best friends there, who I’m still really close to. I’m so lucky that I had that experience.”

Before she hit it big, Felicity was successful model. She was the former face of Dolce & Gabbana and Burberry. Her time as a model instilled in her a love of fashion and style and it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise to find her sitting on the front row at fashion shows. She told Stylist: “A fashion show is like a 10-minute play. There’s all this anticipation and then the whole thing is finished. It’s almost like a dream, like, ‘Did that really happen?’ It’s exciting.” Despite her love for fashion, Felicity hates being on the red carpet and being photographed, she’d rather be at home.

Felicity was first noticed when she starred alongside Eddie Redmayne in the Theory of Everything.

After being given the script by her agent, Jones read it in its entirety in one sitting, and said that she enjoyed that it was a “love story and not a straightforward biopic.” Her performance in the film won her many awards. Shortly after, she was cast in the Star Wars film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story which grossed over $1 billion at the box office making her one in three women on the list of the highest grossing actors of 2016. Felicity then got engaged to film director Charles Guard in May 2017 and they were married in June of this year.
