Sunny Deol on his son’s debut film

-

What was it like directing your son in his first film?

It was a great responsibility. It was not only my son but Sahher as well – two youngsters I was introducing, so obviously as a father ek zimidari hoti hai and that’s what puts a lot of pressure on you. But that is just in the initial stage till you have everything lined up. After that you take over as a director and then it’s just the flow of the project.

What advice would you give Karan at this point?

I would advise him to not take it easy. As a matter of fact I had advised him before he joined the industry that this is not a profession which you enter and everything works out; if you had a medical degree or something it would be a set life, but here with every film you are going to be tested, every film is going to be the next step for you to move ahead, and you should be able to handle the criticism, the likes; if you have too much of criticism you go down and if you have too many people praising you, you fly too high. This is the balance a human being has to achieve, especially an actor, to move ahead.

I know you all have gone away from home, and we’re going to give you great cinema so you are entertained and you don’t feel away from home. Right now I want to tell you that my son and Sahher are being launched and I want you all to go out and see the film and then judge them because at the moment they need a lot of blessings and love which you all have given my dad, me and my brothers. As a family we have always given you neat and good cinema and entertainment which has drawn you to us and that’s what my kid will also keep doing in the future.
