Indian talent shines at the Emmy noms

-

INDIA HAS GOT several nods at the 2019 International Emmy Awards, and all the credit goes to Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. The Netflix anthology movie Lust Stories has been nominated in the Best TV Movie category and Neha Dhupia says she is excited.

“I am super excited! I can’t thank Karan Johar enough for making me a part of it,” said Neha Dhupia, who played a character named Rekha in the segment directed by Karan Johar in the anthology film having four short stories.

The anthology is the collaboration of four directors Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Karan Johar and has been immensely popular among the digital audience, ever since it dropped in June 2018.

Among the other nominations from India, the Netflix series Sacred Games has been nominated for Best Drama, and Amazon Prime’s The Remix has been nominated in the Best Reality TV segment.

Radhika Apte (pictured) says it’s a great feeling to be nominated in the Best Performance By An Actress category at the Emmy Awards for her act in Lust Stories. Nominations for the 2019 Emmy Awards were announced on Thursday by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Radhika will compete against Jenna Coleman from the UK, Brazil’s Marjorie Estiano and Marina Gera from Hungary. Lust Stories is also nominated in the Mini-series category.

“It’s a great feeling to be appreciated for your efforts and also I’m thrilled that Indian content is at par with today’s world TV,” Radhika said.

“The new digital platforms have made it possible for us to better our content and have given us the platform to put it up. I’m thrilled that both Sacred Games and Lust Stories are nominated,” she added.

Announcing the nominations, Bruce L. Paisner, President and Chief Executive Officer of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, said: “The diversity, geographic spread and quality of this year’s nominees is a testament to the increasing wealth of outstanding television being created on the global scale.”

The 47th edition of the International Emmy Awards will take place in New York on November 25.
