Aishwarya to voice Maleficent

-

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan recently walked the runway at the ongoing Paris Fashion Week, but her look has received mixed reactions on social media.

Aishwarya wore a pink asymmetrical floral dress by Giambattista Valli, teaming it with fringed footwear, a messy top bun and glittery makeup.

Expressing his views on Instagram, Indian designer Wendell Rodricks slammed the actress’ stylist.

He wrote: “@loreal you have one of the prettiest girls in the world and this is how you do her make-up and dress her? Sack the stylist for this sack dress with a note that Halloween is next month.”

Many users called it as a “disaster”.

One user commented: “The dress, the make-up, the hair... It’s all so atrocious... It looks like a 6-year old was given a free reign on her face...”

However, there were some who defended Ash, saying she had managed to pull it off despite the disastrous style statement.

“She still managed to pull it off,” add the Instagram user.

Another one commented: “the most beautiful woman, the queen of red carpet , the most beautiful woman... Queen.”

On the work front, Aishwarya will be seen in Mani Ratnam’s next film, which is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s popular historical novel Ponniyin Selvan (The Son Of Ponni). According to reports, she may have a double role in the film. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will lend her voice for Hollywood star Angelina Jolie’s character in Disney’s Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil in Hindi.

Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil sees Maleficent and her goddaughter Aurora begin to question the complex family ties that bind them as they are pulled in different directions by impending nuptials, unexpected allies and dark new forces at play.

“Looking at how Angelina Jolie fits Maleficent’s role down to the letter, it was hard to imagine anyone else essaying the character other than Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for our local audience. We wanted to build a strong connect and bring her character to life in Hindi and felt Aishwarya’s persona, which is filled with elegance and poise would be a perfect blend,” said Bikram Duggal, Head - Studio Entertainment, Disney India.
