007 heaven
It’s one of the most stylish movie franchises in Hollywood history and now, as part of the 50th anniversary of the film that launched the James Bond series, DrNo, Burj Khalifa is hosting the exhibition Designing007:FiftyYearsOfBondStyle. While DrNo actually turned 50 in 2012, after debuting at London’s Barbican Centre that year, Designing007 was so well received it went on a world tour and was exhibited
in Toronto, Shanghai, Melbourne, Moscow, Rotterdam, Madrid, Mexico City and Paris. Now in Dubai, residents can witness the craft behind the sets, the music, gadgets, vehicles, technology and fashion that appeared in the films over the course of five decades. Among the items on display are Scaramanga’s golden gun from TheManWithTheGoldenGun, Daniel Craig’s wardrobe from CasinoRoyale (including those blue swimming trunks), and the Spectre Aston Martin DB10, which, to be fair, is perhaps less of a draw here given the Aston Martin dealership in the shadow of the Burj has a far more impressive collection for fans. Nonetheless, the undoubted appeal for fans stems from the fact everything on display was used in the iconic films. From Roger Moore’s white tuxedo in Octopussy and spacesuit in Moonraker to
Oddjob’s steel-rimmed bowler hat from Goldfinger, it’s a nostalgic wander through props from the films fans grew up watching.
