Emirates Woman

Editor’s letter

- Carmel Harrison EDITOR

This past year has been an evolution for Emirates Woman magazine. When we told people at the beginning of the year that we plan to re-brand, some were skeptical, some were curious and some thought we were crazy. And they were right to feel all of this. The Emirates Woman brand was coming up to 37 years strong, so it was a risk. But, with the current shift in print and digital trends, we knew it was a right move, and so, we ran with it. The March issue, starring 67-year-old artist Patricia Millns is still being talked about today. It is also our best-selling issue of the year. Each month the magazine has grown in strength, character and identity, solidifying itself as a leader in fashion, beauty, culture and substance, and I couldn’t be prouder. We’re celebrating this with our Disco Issue, starring Tunisian actress Dorra Zarrouk. Turn to page 126 to read up on her family’s initial concerns about her entering the film industry. Ian Schrager, co-owner of the Studio 54 nightclub shares his memories of the disco era on page 42 and on page 106 we bring you the fashion accessories to make your party outfit sing. You’ll find the ultimate gift guide on page68andNewYearsEve’shottestdestinations on page 154. See all of our inspirational Emirates Woman, Woman of the Year Award winners from page 55 and teach yourself about the joys of having less on page 152. We hope you'll join us in ending the year on a high!
