A turkey of a present!

- Karen Pasquali Jones Editor kpasqualijones@gulfnews.com

Over the years I’ve given my family some presents that they’ve loved (the iPad last year that my 11-year-old son now needs surgically removing from his hand); some they’ve been surprised by (flying lessons for my daredevil husband); and ones they’ve loathed (the ‘ugly’ doll with brown hair that my five-year-old daughter gave to the dog to chew). But I’d never buy anyone a Christmas nip and tuck. That makes me a bad, uncaring mother according to Lacey Wildd, who has spent Dh25,700 for her seven-year-old and teenage daughters to have plastic surgery.

The 45-year-old believes surgery will make her daughters look and feel better, and that this can be achieved only by going under the knife. The sensible girls don’t want to have anything surgically enhanced, no doubt horrified by their mum’s plastic appearance achieved by $200,000 (Dh735,000) of surgery, including tummy tucks, full-body liposuction, face fillers and 12 breast augmentations. On their wish list is a Barbie and a smartphone, but Lacey – who was bullied at school for her ‘drab’ looks – has already bought the plastic surgery vouchers and says in our story on page 31 that she won’t take no for an answer. I wouldn’t want to be at their house come Christmas morning when the girls open their stockings – and see that the present their mum has bought them is a real turkey! Let me know what you think of Lacey’s gift and the rest of the issue. Merry Christmas!
