Elemis IQ facial, The Spa at Jebel Ali Golf Resort

-

When is a facial not a facial? When it includes an eye massage and mask, foot massage and soothing scalp treatment. Oh and did I mention this was all using Elemis products – which my wife swears by and I’m now a huge fan of – in the lush surroundings of the Jebel Ali Golf Resort? That means you can play a round and then go to the spa to treat yourself to a facial that not only protects your skin against all the elements, but makes you look a decade younger as a bonus.

The spa is first class, with a view over the beach in the relaxation area, and my therapist cleansed and scrubbed my face, and then began to massage it. He explained that everything he was doing was to combat the demands of a modern and hectic lifestyle but I was beginning to drift off. I remember hearing the words “harsh, ageing effect of shaving,” and “environmental damage” but by then I was completely out of it, reduced to a snoring slumber.

I had promised myself I would focus and remember every detail as it was for a Friday review, but by the time I woke up the facial was almost over. My feet and scalp had been massaged – meaning the former were super smooth and the latter tingly – and I was ready for my bed rather than any plans to score a birdie out on the green.

After forcing myself awake, I checked out my reflection in the mirror and smiled. The circles under my eyes had gone and my skin looked plump and polished. Best of all, I didn’t have to admit to any of my mates that I’d been for a facial. I could just say that I’d been to play golf and all that fresh air must have been good for my complexion. 75 mins, Dh550. Tel: 04 814 5810, Email: thespa@jaresorts.com.
