ARE WE THERE YET?

f there is one lifehack for success, it is that there isn’t any. I believe success is a destinatio­n that requires fuelling by hard work, dedication and a positive outlook to reach. And I also believe it is so elusive that it does not have a defined landscape, so I never know if I’ve arrived. Since I am one of those who believes in the journey and not so much in the destinatio­n, the feature ‘Take aim and aim high’ on page 54 was an eye-opener. Of the 15 tips mentioned in the article that discusses how you can not just realise your ultimate dream but reach the pinnacle of your aspiration, the one tip that stayed with me was ‘Accept you will fail from time to time’.

give your 100 per cent and keep at it and success will definitely unfold itself. So I believe failure quite often is an outcome of a mistake that needs to be corrected, not embraced. As the expert in the feature points out, instead of being harsh on yourself or the circumstan­ces that caused the failure, or even finding that fall guy on whom you could pin the failure, you should decipher the failures for lessons just so that next time round you are wiser.

But having said that, what I feel is the litmus test of a person’s character is how he handles success. Does he leave his humility by the wayside? Or does he acquire an aura of avarice?

Success to me is not so much about achieving it as much as it is about showing grace after.
