Just desert retreats

-

If the breakneck speed of city life and blue lights of computer and phone screens are dulling your shine, the Alma Retreat at Bedouin Oasis, Ras Al Khaimah, is a great way to unplug, be at one with nature and recalibrate. Over the weekend stay in tented camps, eat organic food by Detox Delight and Greenheart Organic Farms and participate in yoga, meditation and creative workshop programmes by Soul Art Center and others. The next retreat is scheduled for February 2-4 and starts from Dh3,300 per person. Visit almaretreat.com.

Or you can turn up the volume – deserts make great venues for full-moon parties, too. Anantara Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort is hosting one on February 10 in the moonlit dunes of Abu Dhabi’s Empty Quarter, followed by overnight camping. Dh350 per person gets you a barbecue dinner around a crackling bonfire and a DJ playing hits. You need to bring in your own camping gear, but if pitching tents isn’t your forte the hotel has a Premium package from Dh1,999 per night for two in a Deluxe Garden Room at the resort. Complimentary 4x4 shuttle service from the resort to the campsite will be provided. For 21-year-olds and above only; email eventqas@anantara.com.
