Summer Nights arrive early this year: Grease – The

Musical is coming to Dubai from April 7-13. The new production by the UK’s Curve Theatre directed by Nikolai Foster will play at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Expect to be Hopelessly Devoted as the stage version of the John Travolta film – with songs such as Greased Lightnin’ and You’re The One That I Want – brings alive 1950s Chicago’s greaser subculture, the angsty teenage gang at Rydell High School and Sandy and Danny’s star-crossed love. Get those leather jackets ready. Tickets from Dh150 at platinumlist.com.

Another iconic, this time operatic, take on star-crossed lovers will play out at Dubai Opera from March 2-4, with a revival of Madame Butterfly. Joachim Herz’s production narrates the story of young Japanese woman, Cio-Cio-San (Madam Butterfly), and American naval officer Lieutenant Pinkerton in 1980s Nagasaki. Their doomed love is set to Puccini’s legendary score including the Flower Dues, Humming Chorus and Un Bel Di. Matinee shows are at 3pm and evening shows at 8pm. Tickets from Dh300 at dubaiopera.com.

Blue is the most entertaining colour come April when the Blue Man Group perform at du Forum, Yas Island, from April 18-22 as part of their new world tour. The theatre group that combines, comedy, rock concerts using custom instruments, light and art in their silent performances (the three performers never speak) was conceived in 1991 and has since toured in over 20 countries and made an appearance on the American sitcom Arrested Development. Tickets are on sale now for Dh195 at platinumlist.net.
