Weather forecast for the weekend: it’s going to be happy with plenty of scope for smiles and laughter. The city’s first Happiness Festival kicks off today at Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club. The event focuses on positive emotions, engagement, relationsh­ips, accomplish­ment and wellbeing. There’ll be group exercise sessions of yoga, HIIT and calistheni­cs led by Fit Squad DXB, creative workshops by Art Therapy Internatio­nal Centre, and talks by psychologi­sts, life coaches and counsellor­s on how to maintain friendship­s, mindful parenting, and success. Two Indian stand-up comics are set to tickle Dubai’s funny bone this weekend. Kanan Gill, famous for his YouTube series Pretentiou­s Movie Reviews, will have his first solo show All Correct Opinions at Ductac today. The show is first in the Laugh-a-thon series that’s bringing a line-up of Indian stand-up comics to Dubai. Tickets from Dh150 at ductac.org. Clinic will cure the blues with slapstick comedy at Shaikh Rashid Auditorium, the Indian High School. The character played by Grover on The Kapil Sharma Show will be accompanie­d by the show’s other comic characters: Nurse Bumper, Gutthi and Rinku Bhabhi. Turn midweek frowns into laughter when you catch a showing of Tony award-winning comedy play Art by Yasmina Reza at The Junction, Alserkal Avenue. Adapted and directed by Gautam Goenka, the play explores what happens to three friends when one of them purchases a piece of ‘art’ and it upsets their 20-year-old friendship.
