FIRST LOOK: LE BHV MARAIS I was lucky enough to have an exclusive tour inside new department store Le BHV Marais before its opening this week. The new City Walk location is the first outside Paris for this 161-year-old French brand. The two-storey store will stock fashion, beauty, homeware and food products, many of which are by French or European brands, with some local designers in the mix too. Your first port of call is the beauty hall, which includes brands such as Giorgio Armani, Chanel, Dior and L’Occitane. The fashion section on the ground floor houses many mid-market brands including Sandro, Maje, Diesel and Zadig & Voltaire for men, women and children. Upstairs you’ll find a huge homeware and food section, which again sticks with the European theme and also features Le BHV Marais’ own brand – Home Deco. Once you’re done shopping head to the Le Gourmet area to refuel on a selection of food from international restaurants.

Cruz Collection

Penelope Cruz and her sister Monica have designed a range of handbags for Italian accessories brand Carpisa, and prices start at just Dh129. Each of the six classic styles comes in a range of four spring colours. There’s also the very handy transformable handbags, which contain a detachable mini pochette – so two bags in one! At Carpisa stores nationwide. NEW STORE ALERT! Swedish fashion store & Other Stories will open its doors for the first time in the UAE early next month. & Other stories is the sister brand of H&M and Cos, and is somewhere between the two – it has the young, trendy feel of H&M but the quality and unique style of Cos (the price points are nearer to Cos but you get what you pay for). As with its sister brands, & Other Stories has a Nordic feel to it, with oversized shapes and neutral classic pieces, but you’ll also find great prints, denim and quirky accessories. Located on the first floor at The Dubai Mall. Star shoes Dune London has collaborated with British footwear designer Robert Sanderson to create Dune Loves Rupert Sanderson, a limitededition capsule collection of six styles in a number of colours. Many of them are classic tones and styles, but my favourite is much more of a statement piece: The metallic Dreamgirl heels were inspired by David Bowie and are also available in a gold and silver colourway. Dh949, at Mall of the Emirates and The Dubai Mall from April 1. 5 reasons the Nike Pro Hijab is exciting 1. It was developed after 13 months of research to create a breathable and light fabric; meaning it’s perfect to wear when exercising in hot climates. It weighs only 155g. 2. It’s going to be worn by top athletes across the world, including Emirati figure skater Zahra Lari who will wear it when representing the UAE in her sport. (Zahra and Emirati weightlifter Amna Al Haddad’s feedback played an instrumental role in the hijab’s creation). 3. It looks good. The classic black design with a simple white Nike tick is understated yet stylish. There are also plans to go bold and brighter. 4. While the design is only being worn by athletes for now, the hijab will be available to buy in early 2018. 5. The designers hope to encourage women who may have previously been conscious of wearing their day-to-day hijab, to exercise.
