FATHER FIGURES

My earliest memory is of dad coming home from work and me running to him to grab him by the legs. I would have loved to spend more time with my grandfather Yacoub Shomali and get to know him better. He was a writer and journalist who lived through the worst of the occupation in Palestine and it would have been wonderful to listen to his stories today. I was too young to understand it when he passed away.
