The new Amber Resort is another reason why you should be booking a ticket to Zanzibar.
Come 2019, there will be a new resort in Ras Al Khaimah – the Avani Al Marjan Island Ras Al Khaimah Resort. Located on View Island in Al Marjan, a collection of four man-made islands off the RAK coast, the Minor Hotels-owned resort will be easily accessible from both Ras Al Khaimah and Dubai international airports. The purpose-built resort with 225 keys will have disabled access guest rooms, suites, all-day dining and poolside restaurants, a kids’ club and a spa. However, the highlight of the proposed resort is said to be an outdoor swimming pool with a 360-degree view and beachfront access. A meeting and events facility with capacity of 200 people is also in the pipeline.
This is the third Avani Hotel planned for the UAE – the 372-key AVANI Ibn Battuta Dubai Hotel and the 230-key AVANI Jebel Dhanna Resort are underway; the Avani Deira Dubai Hotel is already operational.
Over in Zanzibar, another coastal resort takes shape – the Zanzibar Amber Resort. The massive new tourism project is said to the first of its kind in Africa. The resort is located in Stone Town, the Tanzanian archipelago’s capital, and a Unesco World Heritage Site that is quickly outweighing the Maldives and other Indian Ocean islands like the Seychelles on the popularity scales, and spread out across 15.2 sq km of Indian Ocean coastline. We’re told Zanzibar Amber Resort will include luxurious hospitality and leisure brands such as an Anantara hotel (one of five international hotels set to open within the development) and the first Signature Ernie Els Design Golf Course in East Africa. That’s just two facilities of a list of many that the resort plans to wow guests with – others include an aqua park, an underwater restaurant, a souq and an equestrian centre with an international polo club.
