TOUR THE GLOBE AT THE CROFT BRUNCH
If it’s a global culinary tour from the comfort of your Friday brunch table that you’re looking for, take a trip to The Croft today. The restaurant at Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel & Suites is now serving Brunch Nation – an at-the-table brunch that showcases dishes from around the world for a fun and leisurely meal with a great soundtrack.
The common theme of all the food is that their countries of origin all played a role in British history – after all, The Croft is a British-inspired eatery. Things start with the attentive staff bringing you salads inspired by the cuisine of Australia – such as a crisp and refreshing cucumber salad, a tangy orange and rocket dish, and a bowlful of marinated seafood – just the thing to wake up the tastebuds on a Friday lunchtime. That’s the first of four courses that are served in sequence at the table – diners can ask for more of any dish they especially like. Next up are Far Eastern delights, such as fluffy steamed barbecue buns, succulent dumplings and gado-gado salad (pictured).
You won’t go hungry here, and the staff are always on hand to bring you a drink and ask if you’re ready for the next round of food – and offer a word of caution: There’s a lot of food to come! If you feel the need to burn off a few calories, take a walk around the open kitchen to see the chefs at work, go out on the terrace for the views over the Marina or play a round of pool in the cool living-room style section of the restaurant. Back at the table, it’s time for curries – chicken tikka masala, lamb rogan josh, vegetable curry and spicy grilled prawns, with pickles, samosas, raita, rice and a selection of breads. The final round of dishes takes things to the UK, with beef Wellington and fish and chips.
Good news for sweet lovers: The dessert is served buffet-style in the living room, which means you can go in and help yourself to a slice of Victoria sponge cake with strawberries any time you like.
