Arab Fashion Week is returning to Dubai – plus Lindsay Judge picks her top moments from Milan Fashion Week
The latest news from the fashion and beauty worlds.
THE ORIGINAL SUPERMODELS RULE THE RUNWAY AT VERSACE
We touched on this last week but I can’t not mention what has to be THE biggest moment of fashion month so far. Donatella Versace concluded her Milan runway show with a tribute to her late brother Gianni Versace on the 20th anniversary of his tragic murder. Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Helena Christensen, Carla Bruni and Claudia Schiffer were reunited on the runway in a nineties tribute with a backing track of George Michael’s song Freedom. All five models, who are now in their late forties and early fifties, had modelled for Versace back in the nineties.
DOLCE AND GABBANA USE MILLENNIAL MODELS
While Versace were bringing back the past, D&G were looking to the future as they sent a new generation of minime models with celebrity parentage down the catwalk. The line-up included P Diddy’s son Christian Combs (left), Anais Gallagher – daughter of Noel of Oasis fame, Hailey Baldwin and Cindy Crawford’s daughter, Kaia Gerber.
GIGI DRESSES AS A BOUQUET FOR MOSCHINO
Gigi Hadid proved she is up for anything as she closed last week’s Moschino show dressed as a bouquet of flowers. The whimsical collection, which was designed by Jeremy Scott, also featured oversized tutus, My Little Pony prints, butterflies and dresses that looked like flowers. It was bizarre yet mesmerizing.
PRADA’S COMIC BOOK COLLECTION
Miuccia Prada took inspiration from comics for SS 2018. Models wore bright punk styles and oversized cut-out pieces adorned with studs, stripes and, comicbook prints. It’s safe to say you can expect to see your childhood cartoon styles coming to a high street store near you next Spring!
