You’ve relished sambousas, now it’s time to learn to make them yourself with Seven Sands’ Emirati cooking

classes (below). During the twohour class, the Emirati restaurant’s executive chef, Bassel Ebrahim, will teach amateur cooks the recipes and techniques that go into making two of the nation’s best-loved dishes – shark sambousas and kibbeh al bezar. Afterwards, participants can tuck into their preparations along with a three-course meal. Dh295 per person including an apron, a recipe booklet and a jar of bezar spice mix. Every Tuesday from 10am-12pm and 6-8pm; call 04 551 6652. Jumeirah Beach Hotel is running a children’s

cooking workshop (above) for six to 13-yearolds. Jumeirah’s executive well-being chef, Gabriele Kurz, will teach kids how to make easy and healthy food like green juices and smoothies, nearly raw banana bread, and soups and snacks. The hands-on approach of the two-hour class will encourage little chefs to smell, touch and taste the ingredients in the recipes so they learn how to incorporate healthy food into their diet. Dh150 per session per child, including recipes and a chef’s hat that kids can take home. Classes take place on the first and third Tuesday of each month; email gabriele.kurz@jumeirah.com.
