LAUGHTER ALL THE WAY
There’s plenty to LOL about this month. The Downright Nasty tour – The Laughter Factory’s latest edition of stand-up shows run across Dubai and Abu Dhabi until November 9. The line-up features a trio of international standup comics – Mandy Knight, Alex Boardman and Jimmy McGhie – who’ve all got the credentials and punchlines to knock you right in the funny bone: Knight is the only female comic to compere at California’s The Comedy Store, Boardman was one of the writers who penned John Bishop’s successful BBC 1 stand-up show Britain and McGhie performed to sold-out crowds at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and appeared on ABC’s stand-up TV show Brexit at Tiffany’s. South African comic Carvin Goldstone is performing at Tribeca, JA Ocean View Hotel tomorrow and at the Southern Sun Hotel, Abu Dhabi on November 5 as part of the StandUp Dubai and Stand-Up Abu Dhabi series. Pakistani comedian Saad Haroon will perform at Ductac tomorrow as part of the VDesi Laughs series. Pakistan’s first Englishspeaking comedian who also hosted The Real News, Pakistani television’s first English comedy show, is as funny as it can get, well at least one step behind – he was voted the world’s second funniest man up at a competition held by US comedy club Laugh Factory in 2014. British comedian Russell Kane is performing at the Madinat Theatre from November 9-10 as part of the DXBLaughs series. The comedian is known for his travel series Stupid Man, Smart Phone and stints as a TV presenter on various BBC shows. Tickets available from Dh195 at platinumlist.net.
