FROM THEN TO NOW
Old meets new with Versace’s latest campaign, which brings the supermodels of the 1990s and today together in a series of super-stylish images. Following on from the SS 18 catwalk show, which saw the likes of Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer walk the catwalk together, the new campaign features some of the classic-era supermodels alongside today’s models. Naomi, Christy Turlington and Gisele Bundchen (left) appear alongside Gigi Hadid, Kaia Gerber and Irina Shayk flying the flag for 2018. The SS 18 collection will be available in stores later this month.
MY EX WARDROBE GETS A PERMANENT HOME
My Ex Wardrobe, the pre-loved clothing providers, are going bricks and mortar with a new name: Retold. Gone are the pop-up events for women to shop pre-loved clothing – now, the brand’s vision will be to ‘reduce, reuse, recycle and re-own’ by showcasing sustainable fashion in a new permanent store where you can shop any time from a constantly updated catalogue of pre-loved and vintage clothing. The store opens on January 22 at 9394 Avenues, a shopping centre on Umm Suqeim Road near Marina Home.
DUBAI GOES TO LONDON
Another Dubai-based designer is headed to London Fashion Week’s Fashion Scout event in February. Following on from the success of last year, Dubai Design & Fashion Council (DDFC) and FAD Institute of Luxury, Fashion & Style have partnered to send an emerging designer to the showcase. This year’s chosen designer is Dalia Al Ali (right) of fashion brand Dee by Dalia. Dalia’s feminine designs are inspired by vintage cuts. ‘Dalia has been growing as a designer, and has managed to expand Dee by Dalia’s footprint across the GCC,’ says DDFC CEO Jazia Al Dhanhani. ‘Showcasing at Fashion Scout London is a great opportunity for her to make a statement on an international stage.’ We can’t wait to see the show next month.
