MODA OPERANDI X PRADA

Looking for something to spend all those dirhams you’re saving by not going out in January? Prada has collaborated with Moda Operandi to create an exclusive collection of 20 shoe styles that are super-cute and perfect for spring. The collection features the brand’s trademark kitten heels as well as pointed flats in pastel colours with removable printed bows. Prices start at Dh4,120, modaoperandi.com

SHOP IN NYC FROM YOUR HOME

Fancy having someone trawl Arctic-cold NYC’s best boutiques for you, while you sit at home in the nice warm UAE? We Shop That is a new personal shopping service based in New York that allows shoppers in the GCC to purchase products from the US and have them shipped to their home country. This even includes brands that don’t usually ship to the Middle East. The service will have a special focus on boutiques and independent brands that don’t otherwise have e-commerce sites and you can order fashion, beauty and lifestyle products. All you need to do is fill in the details of the type (or specific) product that you are looking for, and expert personal shoppers will do their best to find it and come back to you with a quote. Once you’ve agreed, your items will be shipped to your home. One service costs around Dh185. Weshopthat.com

BLACK OUT

The Golden Globes on Sunday saw women and men support the Time’s Up campaign against sexual harassment, following cases that have rocked the industry. They did it by wearing all black, forcing red-carpetstyle pundits to ask actresses like Reese Witherspoon, Eva Longoria, Salma Hayek and Ashley Judd (above) something more than ‘who are you wearing?’. The New York Times calls it ‘the new red carpet’.

MADE IN THE UAE

I love the new collection by Kristina Fidelskaya. The Anima Collection for spring/summer 18 includes oversized structural pieces with bold statementmaking colours. There’s a cool military influence and sports elements to the collection with tracksuit-style trousers paired with smart jackets as well as oversized shapes and belted waistlines. Prices start at around Dh2,400, available at kristinafidelskaya.com

NEW BRANDS TO SHOP AT OUNASS

Dubai-based luxury online store Ounass.com is increasing its fashion offerings this year, including collections from a number of local designers. Here’s my top five brands to shop.

Amira Haroon: Friday met UAE-based Amira last year before her fashion show at London Fashion Week – it looks like it was a hit, as her latest collection (below, left) is now available online.

Chloe: While Ounass was already stocking a limited selection of accessories by Chloe, this will be the first time they are selling the ready-to-wear collection. The S/S 18 collection features layering, flowy materials and floral embroidery. Anatomi: A luxurious abaya brand based in Dubai, Anatomi puts a stylish twist on the classic cover-up.

Vetements: 2018’s brand to be seen in. Vetements has been worn by stars such as Gigi Hadid and Rihanna and you’ll soon be able to shop their latest collection of sporty streetwear.

Madiyah Al Sharqi: One of my favourite local designers; her pastel-coloured S/S 18 collection (below right) is her best yet.
