Egyptian singer Mohammad Mounir will perform at Dubai Media City Amphitheat­re today. This will be the Egyptian movie star’s first gig in four years; he’s known for music that’s a mix of diverse styles and genres such as reggae, jazz, blues and classical Arabic. Fans will be treated to hits such as Alemony Eneeki and Bnetweled. Tickets from Dh195 at platinumli­st.net; from 7.30-11.30pm.

The Fridge’s Concert Series is back and this time local rock bands Chronicles of Khan and Point of View are performing on January 22 at the independen­t music space in Al Serkal Avenue. Chronicles of Khan are a multinatio­nal collective of musicians and award-winning Point of View opened for rock gods Guns N’ Roses during their 2017 gig in Dubai. Tickets cost Dh50 at the door; show starts at 7pm.

Dubai Opera’s intimate music performanc­es, Music in the Studio, are back for a second season with six performanc­es curated by pianist Amira Fouad. Flautist Katherine Bryan (above) and pianist Scott Mitchell kick things off with the first performanc­e on January 24. Their programme will include music by French composers Massenet and Debussy, and Czech composer Dvorak, as well as Katherine’s own transcript­ion of Brahms’ Paganini Variations. Lebanese singer Majida Al Roumi (below) is performing at Dubai Media City Amphitheat­re on January 26. The soprano’s concert will be a mixed bag of old hits – fans can expect to hear classics such as Kalimat and Saqat Al Qina – as well as new songs like La Tassal. Catch the crème de la crème of Egyptian music at the Cairo Sound Music Festival’s on January 26 at du Arena, Yas Island. The music festival’s line-up include The Voice judge Mohammad Hamaki, singer Aida Al Ayoubi, oud player Mustafa Ghazal and percussion­ist Bakr, who will blend modern house music and traditiona­l Arabic melodies. A.R. Rahman (top left), the man with the golden touch, is celebratin­g his musical career’s silver jubilee this year and he’s doing it Dubai with a concert on January 26, called the Journey – Celebratin­g Music. Coinciding with Indian Republic Day, the 150-minute long Hindi music show at Bollywood Parks and Resorts will include 20 singers and musicians such as Benny Dayal, Javed Ali, Jonita Gandhi and Neeti Mohan. A specially designed set, moving stage and pyrotechni­cs will add to the goosebumps that the Oscar and Grammywinn­ing composer’s 120-minute greatest hits performanc­e – from Roja to Jai Ho – will leave you with.
