MY WEIGHT LOSS HAS HIT A PLATEAU

-

QI want to lose weight but I have hit a plateau. I would like to lose five more kilos but the weight just does not budge.

APatience is the key here. Think of how far you have already come and acknowledge that most people go through this phase.

You will need to do something really different from what you are doing right now to see changes. This is the time you can try different diets like the ketogenic plan or an intermittent fast. The latter is my preferred option since it allows you to eat some carbs so it’s easier to get off this diet and still maintain the weight.

You can also try shifting and playing around with your macros. If you have been on a high-fat, high-protein diet, try switching to low-fat, highcarb, moderate protein diet. Manipulating macros can help a lot during this phase.

Consistency and eating the same thing everyday for about 15 days and then changing it will also help a lot. You have to also realise that since you have just the last five kgs to lose, your margin for error is very slim. You will need to be very precise with your portions and cheating with your diet too often will not help.

Switching your workouts and mixing it up will really help push your metabolism further. Please refrain from taking any fat burners or pills to lose weight as they will leave you with hormonal imbalance.

Lastly, check your thyroid levels. If you have lost all your previous weight too quickly and by some fad diet, chances are your thyroid hormones are affected and your metabolism is damaged.
