he mountains of Ras Al Khaimah will come alive with the sound of music tonight and tomorrow during the Rock vs Classic concert at Jebel Jais. This is the second time a musical concert will be held at the UAE’s highest peak and this edition will see big names representing rock and classical genres battle it out for glory – Moscow Symphony Orchestra and conductor Vladimir Rylov will fly the flag for classical music and rock will be championed by Grammy-nominated singer Bill Champlin (top right), Bobby Kimball, the former frontman of TOTO and Dave Bickler, lead singer of the rock band Survivor. Ras Al Khaimah is on a musical journey this week – The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert kicks off on May 10 at Bin Majid Beach Resort Ras Al Khaimah. Relive the iconic Queen frontman Freddie Mercury’s magic with anthems like Bohemian Rhapsody and We Are The Champions at the show that will be as dramatic and as the legend it’s paying homage to – there’ll be a live fire and acrobatic show, and Latin dance entertainment. Zero Gravity is hosting big names tonight and next weekend. Dutch DJ and producer Oliver Heldens (above left) known for hits like Gecko is on tonight.

Get ready to be blown away by Welsh rockers Stereophonics (above) at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre on May 11. Dubai’s newest superclub Gotha is closing the season with a performance by DJ Steve Aioki (left) on May 10. The electro house musician who holds the Guinness World Record for the ‘longest crowd cheer’ at a concert has collaborated with Linkin Park, Kid Ciudi, will.i.am and others.
