Homeopathic cure for hypothyroidism
I’m 32 years and have developed hypothyroidism a year ago and have been advised to take Thyroxin. Is there any alternative in homeopathy?
AWhen the thyroid gland is under-active and doesn’t produce adequate amounts of the thyroid hormone, the condition is called hypothyroidism.
Common symptoms include weight gain even when one is not eating a lot, feeling excessively cold or hot when others are not feeling the same, lethargy (laziness), irregular periods, constipation and depression.
Common causes include iodine deficiency. For example, during pregnancy, the body undergoes stress and needs to produce more thyroid for the growth of the baby, and this is why many women develop this condition during pregnancy or shortly after delivery. Other causes include autoimmune disorders like Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, for example.
From a homeopathic point of view, the medication that you are taking is part of a replacement of the deficiency of the thyroid hormone. While you keep taking this medication (with changes in doses from time to time if needed) the levels should be under control.
Homeopaths believe in treating the root cause and trying to make the thyroid gland produce adequate hormones on its own. The slow functioning of the gland happens very often due to emotional and psychological stress – this can be because of sudden or prolonged grief, sudden death of someone close, job stress, exam stress, and so on.
Homeopathic remedies when rightly selected after detailed history and evaluation can try and stimulate your thyroid gland to start producing adequate hormones. This process has to be done by a experienced homeopath in consent with the treating physician so that the thyroxin dose can be reduced gradually and then completely stopped.
